Mastic Replacement

How much does it cost?

Splendid Dolphin charges $10.00 per linear foot (A linear foot is 12 inches) to remove and replace your pool mastic with a 100 ft minimum.  This includes removal of all old cracked mastic, proper surface wall prep for maximum adhesion and sealing (this is key to quality product adhesion), masking of entire perimeter for even presentation and application of silica sand for proper aesthetic and safety. We also install backer rod if needed. Not all jobs may need it due to previous backer rod available. We can only assess this upon removal. Application of colored silica sand in grey or tan over is an option and not required. This option is a personal preference for the client. We use a very high end commercial grade specialized mastic on all of our jobs in grey or tan.

Do I really need to do this?

YES!

Pool mastic, pool caulking or sealant as it is commonly referred to is the waterproof expansion barrier between your pool and your deck. A very important peice of puzzle. It's purpose is to allow movement between your pool and your deck without damaging the deck or your coping stones. Also, it is waterproofing to stop water from travelling underneath your coping stones then down behind your pool tiles. When this happens the tiles will lose their bond to the pool wall, loosen, and eventually fall off. You may be experiencing this effect already. The pool mastic is very important and should be kept in proper condition.

The purpose is to protect the surrounding structure from water damage, weed growth, pest invasion, trip hazards, splinters and cracking. The finished product is a pool sealant that has a flexible, grout-like appearance that is pleasant to the eye, stainable and long lasting. Pools, patio's, driveways, sidewalks and parking lots have expansion/control joints that need the protection, safety and aesthetic appearance of our products and services. Concrete Joint sealing is a preventative maintenance to prevent future slab jacking or replacement of your concrete.

Calcium Scale Removal

If you notice scale deposits in your pool, you likely have calcium buildup. Removing calcium from your pool tile will make it safe to swim in. Hard water, evaporation, and chemicals all can lead to calcium deposits, as can heated pools and those with high pH levels. Calcium scale will get worse the longer you leave it alone. Over time, it can damage your pool and its equipment. It's essential to remove calcium from pool tiles to protect your family and your pool. Calcium buildup in swimming pools can irritate your skin and eyes. Calcium scale can clog pool filters, not allowing them to do their job. Calcium in the filter makes your pool's system slow down and not work properly. Calcium scale can also damage the bottom of your pool, requiring you to have it refinished, which could be an expensive undertaking.
